Islamabad : Provincial Information Director Syed Mehdi Hussain was heading to work Tuesday morning when unidentified gunmen opened fire at him in downtown Peshawar, capital of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP). Hussain died on the spot. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the killing.
Minister for Information Asif Iqbal Daudzai of NWFP has strongly condemned the killing and termed it a cruel and cowardly act.
In a statement, Daudzai condoled with the bereaved family and expressed his heartiest feelings of sorrow and grief on the sad incident.
Daudzai gave assurances that the provincial government would conduct an inquiry into the incident, and those involved in the case would soon be brought to justice.
He directed the police to complete the inquiry and report to the provincial government as soon as possible.
