McLaren were docked all the 15 constructors’ points they would have earned in Hungary after Fernando Alonso was found guilty of deliberately holding Lewis Hamilton up in the pits during qualifying.

The Spaniard’s actions meant Hamilton was unable to put in a final run and he therefore lost pole position to his team-mate.

“At the qualifying session of the 2007 Hungarian Grand Prix, the panel of stewards found that one of the McLaren drivers had obstructed another in the pit lane,” said a team statement.

“A penalty was imposed preventing McLaren from scoring points in the constructors’ championship at the race.

“McLaren have notified the International Court of Appeal this (Tuesday) morning that they wish to withdraw their appeal against the decision of the stewards.”

The team lodged an appeal, which was to be heard in Paris Wednesday.

However, McLaren were subsequently kicked out of the 2007 F1 constructors’ championship after being found guilty by the World Motor Sport Council in last week’s spy scandal hearing.

It remains to be seen if this is a sign that McLaren also won’t appeal their $100 million fine and exclusion from the constructors’ championship.
