Havana : Cuba and the Russian Federation seeks Friday increase trade, investments and joint researches.

The main industrial branches are attractive for Russia, stated that country’s government vice president Igor Ivanovich Sechin, who visits the island since July 29.

The top official, also co-president of the Cuba-Russia Intergovernmental Joint Commission for trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, mentioned among other sectors agriculture, mining, tourism, and pharmaceutical industry.

Sechin’s agenda today includes meeting with Cuban foreign relations authorities and visiting the tourist resort of Varadero beach, to appreciate potentialities of that sector in the island.

The visitor met Thursday with Marta Lomas, Minister for Foreign Investment and Economic Collaboration (MINVEC), and received a vision of that ministry in the island and was interested in several forms of existing association.

The MINVEC meeting ended with the signing of several accords to modernize the Cuban civil aviation fleet, in which both parties are working, and as a result of that Cuba purchased seven new airplanes in the last few years.

Sechin was also welcomed this week by Cuban Vice President Carlos Lage Davila, who stated Cuba is ready to work actively in projects to foster links between both nations.

The visit of the Russian vice president is another example of the active dialogue achieved between the two parties.
