Tel Aviv : The Israeli Police submitted Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to three-hour home questioning in a probe for possible bribery and trafficking of influence.
The police says the investigators will soon close two cases: alleged overcharge to sponsors for overseas trips and accepting envelops with money that connects him to US businessman Morris Moshe Talansky.
Then, Olmert was mayor of Jerusalem or Minister for Trade and Industry of Ariel Sharon’s cabinet.
But Shlomi Ayalon, head of the National Anti-Fraud Unit, contacted Olmert’s lawyers for another round of questions linked to other financial scandals.
The fourth interview followed his announced refusal to run for Kadima Party’s leadership if the probes land in court.
Although he has already been subject of five probes on alleged corruption and acquisition of a house in Jerusalem, they have not found enough evidence to try him.
