Ramallah : President Mahmoud Abbas has called on Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to lift the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, allowing fuel to enter the city in order for vital services to resume.
The president also urged the Arab League to hold an urgent meeting to discuss the situation and means to end it.
Abbas also addressed the Palestinian people in Gaza, calling on them to withstand the harsh conditions for the sake of all Palestinians.
He said that the issue of building an independent state was possible as long as Palestinians all stand in solidarity and not providing Israel with an excuse to continue on the aggression against Gaza.
