Ramallah : Gaza Strip gas station owners affirmed on Tuesday that Israel has cut off 90 percent of the fuel that Palestinian territory usually receives.
Most of those dealers had to close the gas stations because the quantity is “ridiculous”, and the remaining few open are trying to acquire fuel from Egypt, noted Gaza Union of Gas Station Owners second chief, Mahmud al Jozendar.
Jozendar estimated that the Gaza Strip needs 120,000 liters daily, which came from Israel but is now reduced to a minimum by the blockade, a measure suggested by the Israeli Defense Minister.
At present the Strip is once again receiving gas for cooking and fuel and for the single electricity plant; the fuel had been suspended but Israel again resumed supply.
The United Nations Humanitarian Assistance Coordination Office noted that the little fuel being used in the power plants and water pumping stations will only last until Sunday.
