Belgrade : Current Serbian President incumbent Boris Tadic against firebrand nationalist challenger from Radical Party Tomislav Nikolic maintain a technical tie for the decisive second-round showdown on February 3, according to information disclosed Wednesday in Belgrade.
Tadic, from governing Democratic Party and who seeks to steer Serbia into the European Union, has one slight advantage on Sunday elections, indicated Marko Blagojevic from Center for Free Elections.
But Blagojevic recalls the existence of a 20 percent of the interviewed, whose opinion is not known yet and he thinks those voters could incline the balance in a considerable way towards one or another of the aspirants to the direction of the State.
In addition, the director of the center affirmed that the difference between Tadic and Nikolic, a former ally of Slobodan Milosevic and wants closer ties with Russia, practically corresponds to the margin of errors of the opinion studies.
The two will face off in a decisive second-round showdown on February 3.
On the other hand, Press paper published this day two different and anonymous reports. Current executive obtains 50.4 points over 49.6 of Nikolic in the first, and 51.3 as opposed to 48.7 of his opponent in the second.
“The second round will be very tight,” said Zoran Lucic of Belgrade’s Center for Free Elections and Democracy. “I think the two upcoming weeks will be very interesting. The campaigns are going to be very interesting because of rising temperature among voters”.
The second round of presidential elections to happen Feb 3 the government of the Serbian province of Kosovo, under administration of UN, pretends to declare in a unilateral way the independence of that region.
