Vigil stepped up in Tamil Nadu after Bangalore blasts

Chennai : Vigil and patrolling in major towns and cities in Tamil Nadu, especially the border districts, were stepped up following the serial blasts in Bangalore Friday in which one person was killed and seven were injured.

Police contingents have been deployed at railway stations, airports and in all sensitive spots, including places of worship.

Passengers coming from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka were frisked, eyewitnesses said at the Chennai Central rail terminal.

Buses plying between here and Bangalore were being terminated at the border, passengers told IANS on phone from Dharmapuri.

Private omnibus operators said services to Bangalore would resume after police on both sides of the border gave the clearance.

Meanwhile, the multimillion rupee Rajnikanth-starrer “Kuselan” is to be released on July 31, an official said.
