Washington : Presumptive Republican presidential candidate John McCain could lose votes because of President George W. Bush endorsement, ABC News service said on Thursday.

According to ABC, the US president’s support is not to McCain’s advantage, considering 68 percent of the American citizens rejects the White House administration.

Bush’s unpopularity on such important issues as the Iraqi occupation, economy and social projects will have a negative impact on the 71-year-old legislator, ABC said.

An ABC/Washington Post poll revealed the president’s policies in the conflict with the Arab nation is starting to affect the aspirations of the Arizona senator, who is still in favor of maintaining the troops in Iraq.

The poll predicted the Vietnamese war veteran would lose against either of the two Democrat presidential hopefuls: Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.

The Afro-American senator achieved an advantage of 12 percent over McCain, while the ex First Lady had six percent more, the survey revealed.

For the pollsters the determinants were: discontent with the domestic economy, half of those polled identified as a recession, and increasing support to the opposition political force – 40 percent of US citizens identify with the Democratic Party, the largest number since 1997.
