Hyderabad : In a bizarre incident, five people, including three policemen, were killed in a road accident Wednesday while chasing a highway robber in Andhra Pradesh.
The accident near Kavali in Nellore district took place in the morning when the police vehicle collided head-on with an oil tanker while chasing a motorcycle-borne robber.
Assistant sub-inspector Krishna Rao, constable Divaiah and home guard Balaiah, oil tanker cleaner Krupa Rao and the robber, Vasant Rao, were killed while two policemen were injured.
Police said the accident occurred on a highway when policemen in a jeep were chasing the robber allegedly involved in a series of highway robberies.
