Kabul : Afghan troops have killed 11 rebels in fighting with Taliban in the southern part of the country, an official said Wednesday.
“The troops came in contact with the militants in Norwak area outside Zabul province’s capital Qalat Tuesday night. In the gun battle 11 insurgents were killed,” police chief Abdul Rahman Sarjang told Xinhua.
The troops suffered no casualties, he added.
Taliban militants, who have vowed to speed up attacks against the government and the US-led forces in Afghanistan, did not comment on the incident.
