Mohammed Anas Yahiya, 24-year-old Indian sprinter qualified for the world championship by setting a new record of 400-meter distance at national level in men’s category. He completed the 400 meters race in 45.21 seconds.
The world championship will be held in Doha (Qatar) in September – October 2019. The national athletes record maintained by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).
Mohammed Anas participated in “Kladno Athletics Meet” at the Kladno Czech Republic on 13 July 2019 and set a record of 400 meter distance in 45.21 seconds. Earlier, he had participated in “Cena Noveho Mesta and Metuji meet” at the Czech Republic on 21 July 2018.
Anas hails from Kerala and has represented India at many international events. He is one of the sporspeson to qualify for the Olympic event after Milkha Singh and K.B. Binu. Anas also represented India at Asian Games, South Asian Games and Asian Championships.
According to International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) Anas has a current world ranking position of 243 in Men’s 200 meters and 34 in Men’s 400 meters. His highest ever world ranking position is 135 in Men’s 200 meters and 14 in Men’s 400 meters.
