Islamabad : Dennis C. Blair, Director National Intelligence of the U.S. called on President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday that the U.S. and international community was willing to help Pakistan in its fight against militants.
“The fight against extremists is a collective responsibility of the international community and the world is ready to assist Pakistan,” he said, according to a statement by the President House.
Dennis Blair alos said that the United States is committed to a long term partnership with Pakistan to ensure its political and economic stability.
The President asked the United States to allow market access to Pakistani goods to help the country to overcome the problems of poverty and unemployment as a means to fight militancy and extremism.
The President said that the war against militancy had political ownership and a broad based national consensus in Pakistan and that the government is fated to win the war.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Secretary General M.Salman Faruqui, Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir, too, were present in the meeting.
