Commerce Minister Abdulfalah Al-Sudani said in a press release Wednesday that the council’s agreement to write off some 70 per cent of Iraq’s debts to Arab organisations, among other decisions, represented a turning point in the council’s efforts toward Iraq.

He noted that the ministry presented a comprehensive report to the council on its plans and activities, which was approved with consensus.

The council’s decisions affirmed the interest of Arab organisations in industrial, agricultural and environmental development, as well as the importance of providing technical support to Iraq in these areas, Al-Sudani said.

The minister also noted the council’s decision to contribute to the rehabilitation of universities, schools and other educational institutions.
