Kabul : UN Agency for Refugees (UNHCR) will resume voluntary repatriation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan on Saturday, reported a source from that institution in this capital on Thursday.
UNHCR spokesman in Kabul Nadir Farhad told the media the voluntary repatriation of Afghan refugees will start again on March 1st from the neighboring Islamic country.
The first group will be sent from Quetta, capital of the Pakistani province of Baluchistan, while the second group will leave from Peshawar, capital of the northeastern border province.
Over 2 million Afghans have been sheltered in Pakistan and another group in Iran because of the war and only about 920,000 are officially registered, the rest are defenseless and without any attention to their needs.
Farhad explained that those Afghans registered who choose voluntary repatriation with UNHCR assistance so far this year could contact the Voluntary Repatriation Centers in Peshawar and Quetta.
Each refugee registered who wants to go back to the Afghan territory will receive about 100 dollars for transportation and a reintegration bag for establishing themselves in the country, with quantity determined by the distance and destination, noted the UN agency.
