Jakarta : The Indonesia government congratulated Cuban President Raul Castro for his election as the island´s new head of state, in a letter sent by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
In his letter, the Indonesian leader expressed his confidence in the continuity and development of relations between both nations, which are founding members of the Non Aligned Movement.
The text, released in Jakarta by presidential spokesman Dino Pati Djalal, congratulates the Cuban leader and stressed both nations’ non-aligned position.
It also highlights Cuba´s achievements in education, health and biotechnology.
Indonesia will continue to strengthen relations with Cuba, based on the principles of equality and mutual respect, the letter said.
