UNICEF to Renew Aid Program to Pakistan

Islamabad : The United Nations Children’s Fund will renovate its help program to Pakistan for the areas of primary education, sanitation, children’s protection and environment.

By means of a communiqué, the UNICEF Executive Board said 28 million dollars will be destined in the next two years.

According to representative Martin Mogwanja UNICEF will also ask the international community to support Islamabad with 86 million dollars.

The current help plan started in 2003 will soon end, and Mogwanja reiterated the UNICEF commitment to help children and women to live healthier, happier and more productive.

He remembered that UNICEF has worked in collaboration with the government and the people of Pakistan for more than 60 years. Pakistan has the world’s eighth highest infant mortality rate, according with statistical data of non governmental organization Save the Children. Regarding education, the country needs to develop the net of primary teaching, as well as university centers.
