Jammu : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will probe cross-voting in the legislative council elections in Jammu and Kashmir with seven of 11 of its legislators voting against their party candidate.
The party’s candidate Ranjit Singh polled four votes as against the minimum of 11, the party’s strength in the legislative assembly, which helped the ruling National Conference-Congress alliance to win all the five seats that it had contested Wednesday.
BJP’s leaders at the national level, according to party sources, have taken a very serious note of it. A team of leaders from Delhi will visit Jammu to probe the matter.
The ruling National Conference (NC)-Congress alliance in Jammu and Kashmir won five out of six seats in the legislative council elections. The sixth seat was won by the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
