14,000 pilgrims to visit Nankana Sahib Nov 21

Islamabad : Some 14,000 Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan, India and other countries are likely to visit Nankana Sahib on Nov 21 to celebrate the 539th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh religion.

While 4,000 pilgrims are expected from India, 2,000 will come from Afghanistan, Dubai and Iran while the largest chunk of 8,000 will be from Pakistan.

The Pakistani government has made arrangements to help the pilgrims in matters relating to immigration, boarding, lodging and security, Daily Times Thursday quoted Evacuee Trust Property Board deputy administrator (shrines) Syed Faraz Abbas as saying.

The pilgrims would stay at Nankana Sahib till Nov 24 and would depart for Punja Sahib the next day.

On Nov 27, the pilgrims would visit Dera Sahib near Lahore. The foreign pilgrims would leave Pakistan on Nov 30.
