According to the source, with P. Chidambaram getting the home ministry, three more ministerial berths – one cabinet and two ministers of state – may be given to MPs from the state.

Speaking to IANS on condition of anonymity, a Congress leader said the second cabinet berth may go to G.K. Vasan who was a minister of state with independent charge in the earlier government.

The names that are being floated include N.S.V. Chittan, a senior party leader and Dindugal MP, J.M. Aaron Rashid from Periakulam, M. Krishnaswamy, former chief of Tamil Nadu Congress, K.S. Alagiri and first timers like P. Viswanathan and Manicka Tagore representing Kanchipuram and Virudhunagar constituencies respectively.

Tagore proved to be a giant-killer defeating MDMK boss Vaiko.

The aspirants from Rajya Sabha include party spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan and E.M. Sudarsana Nachiappan.
