Babri Demolition: All involved should be punished, says Kerala CM

By TwoCircles.net Staff Correspondent,

Kochi: The central government should dare to punish all those involved in the demolition of the Babri Masjid, said Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan. The Congress leadership of the time and the government of Rao had helped the demolition indirectly. Present PM Dr Manmohan Singh was the Finance Minister in that government. The Congress leadership and the central government should be ready to admit the mistake committed then, he added in the press conference.

He said that the Sangh Parivar had cut India’s heart into two by demolishing the Babri Masjid. Hundreds of people were killed by fomenting communal hatred creating Hindu-Muslim rift. Those who gave spiritual and political leadership for the demolition are bigger culprits than those murderers. The responsibility of the central government does not end by merely tabling the Liberhan Commission Report in the Parliament. Strong measures should be taken so that such incidents do not occur.

Mr Achuthanandan also attacked the then Prime Minister Narasimha Rao. ‘Being a person who was alive then and now, my opinion is that former PM Narasimha Rao too had a role in it,’ he said. Those who were not alive then may have doubts. A group led by VP Singh and Harkishan Singh Surjit had met Rao and informed him of the riot and problems there. The central intelligence called the PM for hours and asked for his order. But the then PM did not move. VP Singh and Surjit have passed way. But the other political leaders and Parliamentarians with them are still living, he added.
