According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (in charge border circle) Happy Guptan, Amit Sharma, a resident of Harsh Vihar in Delhi, was admitted to the Swami Nand Lal Hospital at Shalimar Garden with pancreatic problems Monday.

At 8 p.m., three youths came to meet him. During their half an hour long stay, they were found talking normally with Sharma. Suddenly the hospital staff heard shots, but thought it was the sound of fire crackers set off by children near by.

However, the ward attendant found Sharma lying near the staircase with several bullet wounds. He was rushed to the operation theatre but doctors could not revive him.

The police were informed and senior officials including the senior superintendent of police visited the spot. Sharma was found with six bullet injuries – four in his chest, one in his neck and one in his right arm.

Sharma, 25, had also undergone treatment in the same hospital six months back. Police are now investigating his background.
