AMU alumni set up health camp for Kumbh mela pilgrims
By IANS,
New Delhi : Alumni of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will set up a health camp April 12-14 for the pilgrims attending the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, a statement by the group said Friday.
Sir Syed Forum, as the group is called, set up a similar health camp March 15-16 to provide medical facilities to the pilgrims.
"The forum's decision to take this small step is in keeping with the views and teachings of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and his followers who strongly believed in joint participation in all social and religious functions to strengthen bonds of Indian unity and harmony," S. Husain Waheed, the group's convenor, said.
"The forum set up a health camp during the second Shahi Snan on March 15-16 and proposes to set up few similar camps during the Mesha Sankranti Shahi Snan April 12-13 at Purkazi and April 13-14 in Haridwar," he added.
"The teaching staff association and non-teaching staff association of AMU, Red Crescent Society of India, Mumbai, Raza Academy, Mumbai and Himalaya Drugs are some of the organisations supporting the initiative and helping in mobilizing doctors, medicines and refreshments," the statement further said.

Display of HUMANITY at it BEST
"Goodwill" gesture by Alumni of AMU to set up health camps at Kumbh Mela and forthcoming Shahi Snan to my knowledge is "unique" in India.
Such "goodwill gestures" creates bonding among different communities / religions - in India. It only, emulates HEALTH-CAMPS and CLINICS at Mina, Arafat, Makkah, and Madinah - during the annual pilgrimage - Hajj, where anyone, irrespective of nationality, race, colour, or social status are given FREE medical consulting, free check-ups, free medicines, etc.
My distant uant, who lived half her life in U.S.A., suffered from chronic headaches. She underwent EVERY diagnostic check-up, laboratory test, whichever was prescribed by American Doctors. But NO-ONE could diagnose cause of her headache. She was in her 50's or maybe 60's when she went on Hajj Pilgrimage, got fainted, and was rushed immediately to a nearby clinic in Mina, by ambulance.
The attending doctor at MINA-CLINIC (Hajj Camp) just opened her eyes and without any diagnostic test, declared she was suffering from "BRAIN CANCER" (lympbo-cercoma of cerebrum) and gave her 90-day life-expectancy. Believe me, neither her husband, children, nor any relatives believed in that diagnosis. And fact is, she died within that 90-days, as BRAIN-CANCER was in last-stage, and incurable.
