The government direction that only two languages should be taught in the newly-allowed 178 higher secondary schools and the abolition of many examinations for language teachers which had been conducted for years were counted as examples for the anti-language policies of the government.

The LDF government is again following the anti-language policy which had led to the Malappuram firing earlier, said Muslim League general secretary PK Kunhalikkutty. Three people namely Majeed, Rahman and Kunhippa were shot dead in early 1980s when the police fired at a procession of the Muslim Youth League demanding protection of languages such as Arabic.

The meeting, presided over by Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, was inaugurated by PK Kunhalikkutty. MP Abdussamad Samadani, Dr MK Muneer, KPA Majeed, PV Abdul Vahab (Muslim League), Cherusseri Sainudheen Musliyar, Kottumala TM Bappu Musliyar (Samastha), VM Koya (Sunni Vidyabhyasa Board), AP Abdul Qader Moulvi, Dr M Abdul Azeez (KNM), Dr EK Ahmed Kutty, K Aboobaker Moulvi (Nadvathul Mujahideen), Kadakkal Abdul Azeez Moulvi (Dakshin Kerala Jamiyathul Ulema), Dr PM Fasal Gafoor, CT Sakkeer Hussain (MES), TK Abdul Kareem, Engr P Mammad Koya (MSS), K Moin Kutty, A Muhammed, KK Abdul Jabbar (KATF) etc took part in the meeting representing different organisations.
