2-day concluding program of Children Festival begins in Mumbai

Mumbai: The much-publicized three-month long Children Festival 2010, of which
TwoCircles.net was an online media partner, began its 2-day concluding program today December 18 with much fun and frolic here at Jogeshwari in Mumbai.

Thousands of students came in 65 buses from across Mumbai. Eminent educationists like Salma Lokhandwala and dignitaries attended the inaugural session of the program, which was organized and anchored by three physically challenged students who showed they are not behind in excellence in their studies.

Hard work over three months by the volunteers of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and Mumbai Metro was for all to see as the entire program was well managed.

Students are participating in Mehdi, drawing, drama competitions and quiz. But the eye-catcher among them are moving mobile crying for its better use, ZOZO playing with kids and teaching morality and Marshal Arts presentation of Safa English Islamic School.

Students are more attracted to Fun zone which has many events like shooting, dot throwing, ball throwing on glasses etc. Many schools have come up with their model in exhibitions depicting cleanliness and affects of drugs, cigarette, gutka etc.The inaugural of the exhibition featured Salma Lokhandwala, Anjuman Islam, Maulan Riyaz Ahmed Khan, Vice President Jamaat-e-islami Hind and Shahab Bankoti Sahab.

Nearly 63 schools, like Anjuman Khairul Islam, Anjuman e Islam, Safa, Shaan-e-Islam and many Municipal schools have brought their students in buses to participate in the competitions.

Dr.Machiswala and Dr. Sajid, renowned psychiatrists will take aptitude tests and offer parental guidance on Sunday to bridge the widening gap between parents and their kids.
There are special films which are being screened in the festival to provide value based entertainment to students. Film CDs are also available with Urdu subtitles at the stalls. Special exhibitions have been made for career guidance and counseling.


Mobile crying for better use

Mr Dange, a teacher at Anjuman Khairul Islam, Urdu High School Kurla, who is planning to bring his own kids to the festival, exclaimed, “This Children Festival is a milestone in the education history of Urdu medium schools where education, counseling, entertainment and morality all come under one roof for the students.”

Hasib Bhatkar, organizer of the festival said, “Alhamdulillah, we are able to finish it well and we will try to widen our target audience to include other medium schools also.”
