Khudai Khidmatgar revived with fifty members taking oath to serve the humanity

New Delhi: Fifty volunteers took the oath to serve the humanity yesterday to revive the century- old Khudai Khidmatgar movement. Khudai Khidmatgar was started by Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, freedom fighter famously known as Frontier Gandhi.

On the accession of of his 23rd death anniversary on January 20th, fifty volunteers under the leadership of Faisal Khan took the oath of serving the humanity without seeking any worldly desire. Tara Gandhi, graddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi and prominent peace activists and Gandhian V.K. Tripathi was present on the occasion.

Faisal khan on the behalf of Khudai Khidmatgar talked about the idea behind the revival of Khudai khidmatgar. He said that Khudai Khidmatgars are going to work in different parts of country and called this program as a major stepping stone towards its revival process since November 2008, when the decision was taken for its revival in Delhi meeting.

Faisal Khan who is associated with National Alliance of People’s Movemente also mentioned the need for such an organization in this time when self interests are creeping into this field of social activism and so it becomes the need of the time to have an organization which works without any desire for worldly reward.

Volunteers who came from different parts of India, took their oath at Gandhi Smiriti, where Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on January 30th, 1948. Faisal Khan said that the “reason to choose this place was Khudai Khidmatgars wanted to convey this message to those people who were responsible for the assassination of Bapu, that they have been able to kill his body but by not his ideas”. Ideas which emerged more strongly after his assassination.

In her address to gathering of Khudai Khidmatgar, Tara Gandhi made some remarkable statements depicting history of the freedom struggle and stressed on the role of Badshah Khan and his organization Khudai Khidmatgar. Tara Gandhi strongly appreciated for this step and complimented the efforts for its revival. She also expressed her pleasure about this program being held at Gandhi Smriti at Tees January Marg where Gandhi was assassinated. Manimala, the prominent social activist and director of Gandhi Smriti concluded this program saying that this meet where 90 percent of participants consists of youth makes her recall the days of J.P movement.

Prominent peace activist Prof. V.K.Tripathi of Sadbhav Mission from IIT Delhi read a beautiful poetry on Gandhi Ji, which he composed himself years ago.

Then all the members were told to gather near The Martyr’s Column, the spot where Gandhi Ji was assassinated to read the oath of Khudai Khidmatgar with Manimala Ji. Gandhians and prominent members of the civil society were also present.

Faisal Khan told TwoCircles.net that the agenda for Khudai Khidmatgar will be:
1. People empowerment through rights based approach
2 . Communal harmony
3. To facilitate as bridge between the Muslim masses and the larger Indian civil society
4. To nurture dedicated, honest Muslim social activists ..
