Mumbai: Muslim Students Organization of India (MSO)organized a seminar on great freedom fighter Allama Fazle Haq Khairabadi (R.A)on 29th January 2012 at Ghulam Momin College Auditorium at Bhiwandi city of Maharashtra. The seminar was presided over by Dr. Saheb Ali,Dept. of Urdu,Mumbai University.
Speakers remembered the life and contribution of the Allama. Momin Jan-e Alam, one of the speakers, said that Allama Fazle Haq Khairabadi was against the British rule. It was hewho had issued Fatwa of Jihad against the British Government first time from the Jama Masjid Delhi.He was very intelligent from his childhood and became a Hafiz only in four months and became an Alim at the age of 13.He has written sixteen famous books on various topics of Islam in Arabic,Persian and Urdu.
Engineer Syed Fazlullah Chishti presented paper on the theme ‘’The Great Patriot’.He said that Allama Fazle Haq Khairabadi was not only a great scholar and author but he was also a great administrator who advised Bahadur Shah Zafar at Lal Qila to collect and strengthen the army and come out of Lal Qila.Britishers had destroyed the Khairabad city due to fear that more Mujahid-e-Azadi will continue to born here.
Dr. Khawaja Ikram of Jawaharlal Nehru University presented paper on the theme ‘First Fatwa of Jihad against British Govt’.He said that “the people who supported British Govt. during their rule have become great freedom fighters today but the role of great Mughul King Bahadur Shah Zafar in the first struggle of freedom is unforgettable and is unmatchable. Muslims have always fought against foreign rule and have sacrificed their lives for this country more than any community.Our Ulemas have presented an incomparable example before us in term of Patriotism.”
Founder of Darul Qalam, Islamic scholar Yaseen Akhtar Misbahi discussed “Effects of Fatwa of Jihad”. He said that Allama Fazle Haq Khairabadi represented the true feelings of the common Indians during the British rule and his Fatwa received full support from all quarters.
Maulana Usaidul Haq Qaudri, Sajjada Nasheen of Khankah Quadria Badaun Shareef discussed the “Arrest and Release of Allama Fazle Haq Khairabadi’’. He informed that Britishers arrested him and produced him before court where the Allama supported his Fatwa of Jihad against British Govt. After which he was given the punishment of Kaala Pani and sent to Rangoon,where he took his last breath and his Mazar is still there.He also said that historians have ignored this great Mujahid-e-Azadi.
Maulana Khushtar Noorani said that today’s Islamic Scholars have directly or indirectly got benefit from Allama Fazle Haq Khairabadi. Allama had defended all accusations against Islam and Muslims at that time. Today’s freedom is gift of struggle of Muslims Ulemaspecially of our leader Allama Fazle Haq Khairabadi. Govt. must recognize the service of this great Mujhahid-e-Azadi and must publish his contributions for the nation. A train must be named after him, he demanded.
