Bomb blast accused committed suicide due to police harassment

Hyderabad: 30 year old Abdul Razzaq Masood, a resident of Nizamabad ana accused in 2003 Sai Baba temple bomb blast, has committed suicide at his rented flat in Humayun Nagar area of Hyderabad on Wednesday evening. He hanged himself from the ceiling fan in his small flat.

Razzaq, in his suicide note stated that he has taken this extreme step due to police harassment. He also stated police was mentally harassing him to work for intelligence agencies as an informer.

In the suicide note, he has also mentioned his apprehension, that even if he acquitted in the Sai Baba Mandir blast, Mumbai police might arrest him soon in the 2006 Mumbai blast. He has further claimed that he had no connection in the Sai Baba Mandir blast.

Razzaq was arrested in 2005 at Delhi airport when he was deported from Iran. Indian investigating agency had alleged that Razzaq was in Afghanistan for a brief period.

In 2005, CID shifted him from Delhi to Hyderabad and made him an accused in the temple blast and booked him under POTA. From 2005-2007 he was lodged in Charlapally Jail, during which he was Narco-tested two times. Narco tests made him mentally unstable, and his psychological treatment was on.

Hyderabad police has sent the body for postmortem. His family members, including his brother who is a councilor in Nizamabad, has reached Hyderabad. Dead body will be handed over to them after the autopsy.
