Raza Academy spearheading relief work in Assam

New Delhi: Raza Academy of Mumbai and All India Sunni Jamiatul Ulema have jointly formed Sunni Relief Committee to help and distribute relief materials collected from various parts of West Bengal and Maharashtra among the riot victims in Assam.

So far various groups of clerics have visited violence-hit areas of Assam on the call of Muhammad Saeed Noori, General Secretary of Raza Academy and distributed relief and cash among the victims. Central Minister Mr. Sultan Ahmed and State Minister of Assam Mr. Farhad Hakeem assisted the team of Sunni Relief Committee which reached Guwahati on 17th September.



The Sunni Relief Committee has distributed Rs 25 lacs in cash and utensils of another Rs 25 lacs in various camps of the affected areas particularly Kokrajhar and Chirang districts.



The relief team comprised Mufti Wajid Ali, Maulana Qasim Alvi of Malegaon, Raza Academy Calcutta In-charge Mufti Mukhtar Alam Rizwi, Maulana Saifullah Alimi, Maulana Shahidul Quadri, Maulana Ghulam Rabbani Fareedi, Maulana Fahimuddin Ashrafi.
