Islamabad : The Pakistani Supreme Court has suspended the membership of Ghulam Sarwar Khan from the National Assembly for holding a fake degree, a media report said Thursday.
The academic credentials of Ghulam Sarwar Khan were challenged by petitioner Raja Qamar, Geo News reported.
In 2010, 14 parliamentarians of three political parties were disqualified for holding fake degrees. Three were from the Pakistan Peoples Party, seven from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and four from the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid.
The Supreme Court had told the Election Commission in 2010 that degrees of all parliamentarians should be verified by the Higher Education Commission.
