37th anniversary of Jamia Markaz from Dec 18

Kozhikode: A four day summit that will discuss the role of Ulemas in contemporary Muslim society and chalk out new strategies to combat radical trends among Muslim communities will mark the 37th anniversary celebration of Jamia Markaz. Islamic scholars from Europe, USA, Africa and Asia are likely to participate in the celebrations of this noted Islamic institution of the state to be held here from December 18.

37th anniversary of Jamia Markaz from Dec 18

M Abdul Qadir Musliyar, president, Muslim Educational Board of India, will inaugurate the celebrations at Markaz campus while Sheikh MatharAl Ka’abi, director, Islamic Affairs UAE, will inaugurate the concluding session on December 21, an official release said.

Nearly 10 lakh believers from India and abroad are expected to attend the concluding session. The conference will feature discussions and workshops on various issues pertaining to Muslim communities in South Asia. This includes Qur’an and Dawa conferences, a debate on minority education and a seminar on Muslim charity.

“Markaz been trying to address fundamental issues faced by the community and the method it adopts is more social than communitarian,” said Sheikh Aboobacker Ahmad, founder of Jamia Markaz.
