Chennai: According to a hadith, gates of mercy are opened in Ramadan. Muslim men walk out of a mosque in Chennai after praying the taraveeh (long night prayer in Ramadan) prayers. The Arabic inscription above the gate reads “Allāhumma iftah li abwaab rahmatika” (O Allah, open to me the gates of Your mercy).
