This is totally unacceptable,” TNTJ General Secretary Mr. Rahamatullah said in a press statement.

According to Indian Express report, Mohammed was taken to SP Pattinam police station on Tuesday on a complaint filed by a local shop owner about a minor scuffle. “During interrogation, he was allegedly shot dead by the sub-inspector. He (the sub-inspector) later got himself admitted to a hospital claiming he fired after Mohammed tried to attack him with a knife during interrogation,” the Express report said.

“Recently, similar incident happened in Kanathur, Chennai and it was said that the persons who were brought for investigation tried to hit the police officials, which is not realistic and practical. It raises a simple question: where were the other policemen?” Rahamatullah said, adding, “We demand permanent dismissal of the sub-inspector from his duties and a murder case has to be registered against him.”
