Special scholarships for Jammu and Kashmir students attending AMU

Aligarh: Students from Jammu and Kashmir attending Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will now receive special scholarships.

Recently, Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has sanctioned financial assistance of little over Rs 35 lakh to the AMU under the special scholarships programme for natives of Jammu and Kashmir (J and K) outside their state.

The special scholarships will be given to J and K natives attending various central universities and centrally funded institutes in India from the current session, confirmed Dr Manzoor Ahmad, patron, Jammu and Kashmir Aligarh Association (JKAA), a release from AMU said.

Dr Manzoor said that this fund will be of great help in facilitating around 200 graduate J and K students studying at AMU. He said the funds have been released after some documentation formalities were completed, the release added.
