Shbili National College elects new students leaders

The students union election for the Shibli National College, Azamgarh were conducted on Sunday with Arsalan Khan being elected as President of the union.

About 54% of the students exercised their franchise to cast 4,685 votes were cast in Shibli College, of which 4,510 were declared valid.

The polling began at 8:30 am and was over at 1:30 pm followed by counting of votes from 2:30pm and declaration of results.

For the president’s post, Arsalan Khan polled 1842 votes and defeated his nearest rival Shariq Sheikh with a margin of 538 votes. For the post of general secretary, Bilal Azmi polled 1,574 votes, defeating Razik Khan by a margin of 297 votes.

In the Arts Faculty, Sajid Ahmed was declared winner with 1,268 votes while Abhinav Singh with 776 votes stood second. In Science Faculty, Shahbaz Anwar won as he got 684 votes while Mohd Altamash got 654 votes. In Law Facult,y Brijesh Singh was the winner with 132 votes while Asim Ansari was second with 102 votes. In Commerce Faculty, Abdullah Khan was declared winner as he got 445 votes with Mohd Shahzeb with 396 votes being second. In the Education Faculty Abdul Hannan was declared winner unopposed.

The elected members were sent to their homes in police jeep as there was no permission to take out victory procession. Chief Election Officer Dr Mohd Khalid administered oath to the newly elected union members.

The Shibli National College, Azamgarh is a recognized minority institution and was established in 1883 by renowned educationist Allama Shibli Nomani.
