Washington : U.S. President George W. Bush on Thursday called some senior Iraqi leaders to congratulate them on passing important legislation.
Bush called to congratulate Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki, Speaker of the Council of Representatives Mahmoud al Mashhadani, Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives Khalid al-Attiya, and Second Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives Aref Tayfour.
The Iraqi parliament passed three key pieces of legislation that the United States had been pushing for over a year. The legislation was a budget bill, provincial powers law, and an amnesty bill.
