New Delhi: President Pratibha Patil awarded 23 scholars of the Arabic, Persian, Sanskrit and Pali languages for their contribution to the field of language and literature.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Development reported that Professor Mohsin Usmani, Maulana Habib Rehan Khan and professor Shafique Ahmad Khan have been awarded for Arabic. Whereas professor Md Sharique Alam, professor Mohiuddin Ghulam Rasool and professor Maria Bilquis were awarded for Persian.
Scholars whose contributions are significant in these fields are awarded by the President every year on Independence Day for their efforts.
