" CSEB chairman Rajib Ranjan sent an offer last week to the NTPC chairman saying that the board wants to set up three mega projects at Raigarh district in a joint venture," CSEB spokesman Vijay Mishra told IANS.

"The CSEB had already made an initial offer earlier and we are just pursuing it further. We want to set up two power projects each of 4,000 mw and another 2,000 mw plant with NTPC," Mishra said.

He added that the CSEB is expecting a reply from NTPC by Aug 15 and if the offer is accepted, the plants will come up at Aklatra, Lara and Godna hamlets in Raigarh district. The NTPC and the CSEB will have equity ratio of 74-26 percent while the production share will be in ratio of 51-49 percent.

Raigarh is a coal rich northern district of Chhattisgarh where India's highest profit making coal subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd. and South Eastern Coalfields Ltd. (SECL) have mining facilities. Chhattisgarh has about 18 percent of India's coal deposits with majority of reserves found in the state's northern regions of Korba and Raigarh.
