Bring Mumbai riots culprits to justice: Jamiat chief

By TwoCircles.net staff reporter

New Delhi : The TADA court judgements awarding capital and jail terms to the accused in the Mumbai serial blasts cases are not unexpected but the irony is that the culprits of Mumbai riots are roaming free even today, said Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind president Maulana Arshad
Madani in a statement here Friday.

"The way Justice Srikrishna Commission Report was shelved and thereby the communal forces were encouraged has hurt the sentiments of minorities. Indian Muslims still have full confidence in judiciary, and hope the apex court would take effective measures to do justice
to the victims of Mumbai riots," the Jamiat leader added.

"How unfortunate it is that those who killed hundreds of Muslims in the riots and thus tarnished the image of the country in the comity of nations are in the saddle even today and no action has been taken against them," he lamented.

Reposing his faith in the judicial system, Maulana Madani said, "Some persons even in this profession tend to act with a particular leaning, and especially special courts are created with a purpose. Therefore, we should wait for the judgement of higher court before we call the judgements of TADA court just."

Welcoming the Supreme Court move to seek affidavits on the glaring lapses in the implementation of Srikrishna Commission Report, he hoped Muslims would get justice.
