Srinagar : Life was thrown out of gear in winter capital as heavy rains lash parts of and also forcing authorities to withhold the traffic on Jammu Srinagar National Highway for four hours following landslides at Panthal Ramban.

Heavy rains lashed Jammu and surrounding districts since last midnight which affected the general life also disturbed the traffic due to water logging in low laying areas. Scanty traffic was witnessed even on busy routes.

While most of the Nallahs witnessed a rise in water level in the outskirts, water gathered on all main roads within the Jammu city creating problem for both pedestrian and those traveling in Vehicles.

An Evacuee Property house at historical Julaka Mohalla was also damaged after its walls collapsed. However, there was no report of injury to any one in the house collapse.

Meanwhile, authorities restricted the traffic on Jammu Srinagar National High way from 11 AM to 3 PM to avoid jamming following sporadic land slides along the route.

Reports reaching here told News Agency of Kashmir that incessant rains triggered heavy land slides at trouble place Panthal, Ramban. However, the traffic was allowed by afternoon as the Border Road Organisation succeeded in clearing the slides at all places including at Panthal.

The vehicles which left for Srinagar this morning were stopped at various places and were allowed to proceed after the road was cleared.
