Algiers : IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Monday evening Tehran sees no limits for expansion of ties and relations with Algeria.
The visiting Iranian President made the comment at a meeting with Algerian Senate Speaker Abdel-Qader bin-Saleh, following a three-hour meeting with his Algerian counterpart, President Abdel-Aziz Bouteflika.
Ahmadinejad added, “The two countries have great potentials that can be used at the service of the growth and improvement of the Islamic world, as well as the entire mankind, and we are ready to set the foundation stones for building up very strong relations between Iran and Algeria in political, economic, commercial, industrial, energy, and agricultural fields.”
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran pointing out that “In our visit to Algeria we feel quite at home”, appreciated the warm hospitality of the People’s Republic of Algeria’s President Abdel-Aziz Bouteflika.
President Ahmadinejad added, “Existence of deep emotional ties between the two nations has roots in their Islamic beliefs and revolutionary moods.”
The IRI President appreciated the Jihadi endeavors and braveries of the great Algerian nation in their campaign against colonial powers, arguing, “Many of the ideals and objectives of the Islamic revolution of Iran are the same as the Algerian nation’s revolution.” Ahmadinejad added, “The two countries’ parliaments can facilitate for the deepening of brotherly ties between the two Muslim nations.” He also expressed delight over hearing the news on advancement and victories of the Algerian nation, reiterating, “In order to conquer the difficulties, we need to be strong so that the enemies could not be capable of threatening our national interests and security.”
Ahmadinejad added, “Fortunately, despite mounting pressure imposed by the West, the status of the Islamic countries keeps improving with the passage of each new day.”
He emphasized, “The Iranian and Algerian nations, thanks to their regional and international positions, have to be the pioneers of safeguarding the rights of oppressed nations.”
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized, “Today both the region and the world are on the threshold of a great development, and therefore, we need to take the lead of management of the upcoming changes in a way to serve the maximum interests of the Islamic World.”
Our country’s president arrived in Algiers on Monday morning for a two-day state visit on an invitation extended to him by his Algerian counterpart President Abdel-Aziz Bouteflika.
This is the first state visit to Algeria for President Ahmadinejad and the second visit of an Iranian president to this north African country.
Ahmadinejad was officially received at Algiers’ Hwari Bomedian Airport by President Bouteflika.
Observers of the two countries affairs have considered President Ahmadinejad’s Algerian state visit as a turning point in boosting and blossoming Tehran-Algiers ties, particularly at the service of implementing the previously signed agreements.
The two countries’ officials have during the first day of the visit emphasized the need for harmonizing in various economic, political, and cultural affairs.
Since the restoration of political ties between the two countries in September, 1990, the two countries have signed 33 agreements in various political, economic and cultural fields.
