Berlin : Thousands of commuters on Thursday had to igure out another way to get to work as municipal train drivers in Berlin and Hamburg staged a two-hour warning strike from 8 to 10 am (0600 to 0800 GMT).
Commuters were still able to use subway trains and inner-city buses which were not affected by the labor walkout.
Almost everything has come to a standstill, a municipal railway spokeswoman was quoted as saying in Hamburg.
The train drivers’ union is seeking a pay rise of up to 31 percent and a separate labor contract.
The latest strike comes less than a day after a labor court in the south German city of Nuremberg banned an imminent strike by the GDL, set to take place on Thursday.
The temporary court injunction applies for inter-city passenger as well as cargo rail traffic, said the head of the labor negotiation team of the state-owned rail network Deutsche Bahn (DB), Werner Bayreuther in Berlin on Wednesday.
