PCB’s chief operating officer Shafqat Nagmi told The News that 16 of the 20 players offered the contracts have already signed.

“Younis Khan and Danish Kaneria, who are playing county cricket in England, have accepted the terms and conditions and would be signing the contracts tomorrow. But we have received no word from Yousuf or Razzaq about the contracts,” Nagmi told the newspaper Thursday.

The two are seen as protesting against not being selected by the PCB for September’s Twenty20 world championships in South Africa.

“Our policy is very clear. We offered the contracts to 20 players Aug 4 and gave them six days to sign them. Any player who fails to do that would be removed from the list,” he added.

The official made it clear that no player was under pressure to sign the contracts.

“As far as the contracts are concerned, the final decision is that of the player involved.”

However, he did emphasise that a player failing to sign it by Friday will lose the opportunity to earn a substantial annual salary.

The newspaper also speculated that Razzaq might opt out of the central contract in order to play in the Indian Cricket League.
