Kabul : Security forces have freed German woman abducted in Afghanistan, the interior ministry and police here confirmed.
The woman, identified as 31-year-old Christina M., was abducted Saturday from a Kabul restaurant by armed men.
An Afghan news channel earlier Sunday aired video footage of the aid worker with a kidnapper, who said that “Madam Christina” would be released in a prisoner exchange.
A spokeswoman for the German Foreign Ministry in Berlin also confirmed the report of the abductee’s release.
“She is in the safe custody of the German embassy in Kabul,” said the spokeswoman, who declined to comment on Christina M.’s health condition.
