The upcoming talks between Iran and the IAEA would be the last round “to set up a framework to settle the remaining issues”, said Mohammad Saeedi, deputy head of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI) for International Affairs, as quoted by IRNA.

The IAEA delegation led by its Deputy Director General Olli Heinonen will have parleys with the deputy head of Iran’s national security council Javad Vaeedi.

The first round of talks was held July 11 during which the two sides agreed on the agency inspectors’ visit to the Arak research reactor. The second round was held in Vienna July 24, in which the two parties set a date for the IAEA inspectors’ visit to Arak facilities.

Eventually, the IAEA inspectors visited the Arak Research Reactor July 30.

Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani, during a meeting with the IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei in Vienna in late June, invited a delegation from the nuclear watchdog to visit Iran and hold talks with Iranian officials over drawing an action plan to end the stalemate over Iran’s controversial nuclear programme.

US and some western countries say Iran is enriching uranium to develop nuclear weapons, an accusation Tehran has denied saying its nuclear programme is non-strategic and is for civilian use.
