Only five cases of dacoity, murder and attempt to murder, robbery and rape were registered against illegal Bangladeshi migrants in the year 2006 as compared to 16 in 2005.

“In the year 2004, Delhi Police had registered 16 such cases against the Bangladeshi migrants. This year so far, police have registered only a single case of dacoity,” Minister of State for Home Affairs Radhika Selvi informed parliament.

The minister also informed that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India’s premier investigating agency, had not received any list of Bangladeshi criminals from Interpol Dhaka or the Interpol headquarters in France.

“However, the Interpol wing of CBI has received separate requests from their Bangladesh counterparts in order to locate four of their wanted criminals in India, who are suspected to be in Kolkata,” she said.
