Chandigarh : Construction and agricultural equipment manufacturer JCB Excavators will invest Rs.3 billion (300 crore) more to expand its existing plant in Haryana’s Faridabad district.
A state government spokesman said here Friday that the expansion of the Ballabhgarh plant would be completed by the end of 2008.
He said the new investment was the result of negotiations between the company and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda who visited the company’s facility in Britain last year.
For the expansion, the company has been allotted 17 more acres of land adjacent to its existing plant.
JCB, which has 18 models of excavators and other construction equipment, became the first construction equipment manufacturer to cross the 50,000 machines sales mark in India this year. From nine dealers and 12 outlets in 1987, it now has 42 dealers and 264 outlets across the country.
The company has one plant at Ballabhgarh and two near Pune. It also runs operator training schools for over 3,000 people, teaching them how to handle excavators and other construction equipment.
