Kuwaiti firm exploring investment opportunities in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa : Kuwaiti firm Al-Bader International Development Company will carry out practical activities enabling it to invest in Ethiopia as the country is endowed with rich natural resources, its chairman says.

At a meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi here Thursday, the company’s chairman, Yusuf A. Al-Bader, said there is a conducive investment environment in Ethiopia.

During the talks, Meles informed the delegation from the company about the investment potential existing in Ethiopia in the real estate, industrial, information and communication and other sectors.

He also said the government would provide the necessary support if the company invested in the country.

Describing the investment situation in the country in general as encouraging, Yusuf said he had discussed extensively with various pertinent bodies regarding investment opportunities existing in the country.

Yusuf, who said real estate development, hotel construction, power supply and industrial development sectors were some of the investment opportunities in Ethiopia, added that his company planned to start practical activities soon.

Yusuf said after the talks that he came to Ethiopia following an invitation made by Meles to visit the country during his visit to Kuwait.

Meles made a two-day official visit to Kuwait with senior government officials in May and apprised potential Kuwaiti investors of the vast investment potentials existing in Ethiopia.
