Srinagar : Unidentified militants ambushed a joint patrol party of SOG and Rashtriya Rifles in Kupwara district. Though no causality was reported from the area, Lashker-e-Toiba claimed the responsibility of the attack.
Sources said that a search party of SOG, 28 –RR was ambushed by the militants at Forest area Dooraswani in Sogam area of Kupwara district.
During operation militants fired upon operational party which was retaliated, but the militants managed to escape taking the advantage of forests.
However, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.
During search of the area three Pithu bags, four Barfi packs, one rice bag, 25 Kgs Sugar, one bag of Potatoes and Onions, two boxes pencils and one box of soap was recovered from the site, an official spokesman said.
However, a caller identifying himself as Dr Gaznavi, spokesperson of LeT, told NAK that the cadre of his outfit carried out the attack and managed to inflict heavy causalities on the security forces.
