New Delhi : A 52-member delegation from India is in Pakistan to attend the three-day urs of Baba Bullehshah, an 18th century revolutionary saint of Punjab, which began Sunday.
The delegation, which went at the invitation of the Bulleh Shah International Forum, crossed the Wagah border in Punjab on foot.
The urs, or death anniversary of a Sufi saint, is being held at Kasur.
The delegation comprising of people from all parts of India, Members of Parliament, Gandhian peace activists, journalists, poets, professors and industrialists reached Kasur Sunday and attended a seminar on Baba Bullehshah.
During the urs, there will be a paper presentation by Sutinder Singh Noor, a professor of Delhi. On behalf of the Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha Charanjit Singh Atwal and Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha K. Rehman Khan will present ‘chadars’ at the urs.
After spending a day in Lahore, the delegation will head back to India.
Nirmala Deshpande, chairperson of the Association of Peoples of Asia, is the leader of the delegation.
The urs is organised by the Indo-Pak forum of Parliamentarians, Association of Peoples of Asia and Delhi Peace Summit.
